Physician Inquiries
The clinical services are organized in three major categories, and it is best to direct a specific question to that area, if possible.
Clinical Pathology laboratory questions can be directed to 573-882-1400. This includes any questions about chemistry, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, or other specialized laboratories. You can also talk to the pathologist on-call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by calling the University Hospital page operator (573-882-4141) and asking for the "Clinical Pathologist on-call".
Anatomic Pathology laboratory questions can be directed to Michelle Smith at 573-882-1223 or smithmr@missouri.edu. This includes status on biopsy reports or cytology reports. You can also talk to the pathologist on-call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by calling the University Hospital page operator (573-882-4141) and asking for the "Anatomic Pathologist on-call".
Medical Examiner services are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to law enforcement agencies for emergencies by calling 573-474-2700. Routine inquiries may be made at the same number, but during the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
