Teaching AwardsThe faculty of pathology and anatomical sciences have a long tradition of excellence in education. In the School of Medicine, anatomical sciences is a major component of the curriculum in the first year, and pathology is a major component in the second year. To recognize the teaching accomplishments of our faculty, the department maintains the list below of awards for teaching. Some of the most prestigious teaching awards are listed below, and faculty recipients in Pathology and Anatomical Sciences. Prestigious Teaching AwardsKEMPER AWARD Recent RecipientsESTERLY AWARDDr. James A. Esterly was a long term faculty member of pathology and a practicing surgical pathologist. He was very fond of pathology residents, and dedicated a large part of his career to their education. To honor him, friends, family, and professional colleagues created the Esterly Endowment, which each year recognizes the resident physician who has contributed the most to the education of their peers in the pathology residency program.
2002 Shellaine Frazier, MD Dr. Paul Sun was a long term faculty member of pathology and a dedicated teacher. Several teaching awards in the School of Medicine bear his name, including the award recognizing the faculty member who has been the best teacher for pathology residents.
1990 Paul Sun, MD JANE HICKMAN TEACHING AWARD The Jane Hickman Teaching Award is given to one faculty member each year who has contributed the most to the education of medical students. The following members of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences who have won the Hickman Award since 1990 are: 1995 Ann Havey, MD KEMPER AWARD
