in front of Body Worlds 3Recently, several faculty and staff visited the Body Worlds3 Exhibit at the St. Louis Science Center to see the anatomical exhibits of Body Worlds, preserved through the process of "plastination". Plastination uses complex polymers to infiltrate human anatomical specimens, preserving them as permanent hard plastic specimens that can be viewed by many learners. This exhibit (Body Worlds Site) has toured around the world, educating the public about human anatomy and its history.

Dr. Douglas C. Miller, M.D., recently joined the Department of Pathology and Dr. MillerAnatomical Sciences. Dr. Miller comes to the department most recently from New York University, where he was professor of pathology (neuropathology) and neurosurgery. He is a member of the Children's Oncology Group, and has published over 130 peer-reviewed papers in the field of neuropathology. His new faculty website can be accessed along with other faculty in the People-Faculty list to the right.

Our homecoming tailgates have been very popular and we plan to continue this annual event. Faculty, residents, staff, and students attended, along with a number of guests who dropped by. Bud Smith hosts, serving throat-burning chili from his RV, and brats and burgers provided by the department. We have a strong winning record for the ones we have attended, with the department sitting as a group and cheering on. Coincidence???? We think not! Hope you'll join us next time!
