Hometown: Tallinn, Estonia
Undergraduate School: University of Tartu, Estonia
Medical School: University of Tartu, Estonia

Personal Statement: I was born and raised in Tallinn, Estonia. I went to medical school (combined undergraduate-graduate curriculum) in Tartu, Estonia. After graduating, I moved to Charleston, South Carolina and worked at MUSC in cancer research for several years.

I am married and have a two-year-old son and a new baby.

Hobbies: Traveling, cross-country skiing, hiking

Why I chose this program: The combination of a great faculty, happy residents and family-friendly Columbia "sold" me on this residency program. The best thing about the city is that it offers great recreational opportunities. Also, you can drive almost anywhere in ten minutes.

Professional Interests: Surgical pathology, translational research

Long-term plans: My goal is to become a well-rounded pathologist with an emphasis in surgical pathology. I hope to find a Columbia-like city somewhere in the Northeast to raise my family and enjoy four seasons (including winters with lots of snow).
